Sancho's Man Utd situation "hurts my soul" declares Borussia Dortmund boss
By - Ok_Context_35612
Hurts his soul but not his wallet.
Now do van de Beek and Dean Henderson
To be fair, Henderson isnt getting anywhere near the first team with the way De Gea is playing.
Yeah maybe not now, but point is, an incredible talent is being wasted. Had he been playing since his loan to Sheffield United he could have been England’s number one keeper. Look at Emi Martinez. From Arsenal’s bench to starring in the Copa America for Argentina in a matter of a season and a half.
>Had he been playing since his loan to Sheffield United he could have been England’s number one keeper.
He literally usurped De Gea as our #1 keeper. He lost his spot through illness not because Fe Gea is being played no matter what.
Henderson kind of forced the situation himself. He wanted to stay and didnt want to go out on loan again. Everyone could see he is a talent.
United might have been better off selling him with a buyback clause of course, but thats hindsight. People on the reddevils sub were already writing De Gea off.
henderson has no one to blame but him though
no asked him to be better than prime ddg but he didn't make himself irreplaceable, full well knowing ddg is another play on even half a form
Why though? It's just been a few games
Right, he only cost 20p, he can probably get gametime in the EFL cup
We are one month in, calm down. He will eventually get playing time, but what do you expect for now, he's looked dead on arrival in the past few appearances he had. Besides, why do you care about the price? It's not your money and it's not even your club.
Lol fair enough Its banter, obviously I'm sure he'll get gametime, it's just any other club with that level of signing would put him on the pitch for the fans sooner rather than later. Ronaldo comings probably dampened that. Nevertheless, don't see your guys playstyle fitting him much.
To that matter it's r/soccer not reddevils, just giving my 20p
"Anyway here is our next 100 million wonderkid"
Oh stop being so dramatic.
Waiting for someone deluded to come in and say the Bundesliga is a farmers league and Sancho will need time to adjust.
At some point a team with De Gea, Shawberto Carlos, Maguire, Varane, Pogba, Bruno, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Sancho, Cavani, Lingardinho, the players can't be the problem?
i mean he hasnt even played 10 games yet
maybe, just maybe he actually does need time to adjust? but yes I agree Ole is out of his depth
Yup, just like Donny adjusting on the bench for the entire year.
Maybe, just maybe, he actually needs to play to adjust. Clearly sitting on the bench didnt help his team mate adjust.
Edit: I dont necessarily disagree with you, and he shouldnt be blamed for the way he is playing. Something is really wrong with that team. Players literally passing side to side, not knowing what to do next.
Ah, here comes the reactionary downvote brigade from r/reddevils
VDB got 1500 minutes last season and 15 starts. 36 total appearances and he got 1 goal and 2 assists. He didn't necessarily spend an entire year on the bench. He played quite a lot. Besides, Sancho is getting a decent amount of playing time currently
>36 total appearances
Lmao. Literally taking the piss when he was\* put on in the last 5 minutes for a good number of those games. And he does play a full 90, he just gets dropped the next.
Did you watch the games he played?
How many games do you think he played 5 minutes each last season to add up to 1500 minutes?
He needs less than 17 full games to make 1500 minutes. He made 36 appearances.
Do your own maths.
He had 7 full 90 minute appearances, and 9 appearances below 10 minutes, the rest were varying amounts of minutes with around 15 being more than 45 minute appearances. He started all of our FA Cup games, and started 3 out of 4 of our EFL cup games and subbed in on the other. 9 appearances in Europe, out of which 3 were garbage time, and he had a muscle injury across February and March. In short he got a game around every 1-2 weeks. That's enough time to prove himself, right? Agree to disagree. He might get good eventually, but last season, all the positions he excelled in were taken.
>In short he got a game around every 1-2 weeks.
>Agree to disagree.
This right here. He has done enough to show that he is better than either of McFred. With almost half of his games in rubbish time (when United was 1 goal up defending a lead or playing for a draw, based on your own stats).
It takes a fair bit of willfulness to think that he has not proven himself in spite of the limited minutes, and shit phases of game.
>He has done enough to show that he is better than either of McFred
[Fred does more progressive passes than anyone on the team besides Pogba](https://aaronmoniz.com/projects/data-visualization-how-good-are-manchester-uniteds-defenders-and-holding-midfielders-at-progressive-passing-and-carrying/)
>based on your own stats
Where did my stats say that? He played only 9 games in garbage time.
Sancho is the type of player who thrives off link up play with his team mates, playing in quik passing triangles, quik 1-2 give & goes, stuff like that, united does not play that way, we don't really have an attacking system. We are slow on the ball, I knew this would be an issue with sancho at united. Put Sancho in city's or liverpools squad where they have cohesive patterns of play he'd be playing much better.
Adjustment is a skill, but its also depentable on many subjective factors , league quality isnt one. For example there are players , like Immobile, that work only in the Serie A. Does that mean Bundesliga or La Liga is better? No it just means immobile can play better in the serie a. Also the time you can adjust to a new team is also a subjective factor, learning how your teammates think , how they play and operate, some can do that faster than others. Also sometimes a certain teamconstellation can get the best version of a player. For example Timo Werner at RBL. Werner profited a lot from Poulsen , stats wise Poulsen is one of the hardes working strikers in Europe, he doesnt score but is a working force, and Werner needed exactly that to shine, they complemented each other. Werner would get more goals if he had a Poulsen at his side in London. So saying " The league is worse so the players are bad" seems kinda naive considering all the complex potential subjective factors that can play a role. I saw every single game that sancho played in dortmund and Im sure he will get to his level and will be lethal for United. I do wish that for him, cuz he is a good lad.
I take it you agree with me then, unless you misread me.
I do I just wanted to write a bid
I think most united fans have accepted that it's time to move on from ole now. We have a world class roster, we need a world class manager.
But who is there? Would Zidane come? Word is he wants the France job and it could be his soon.
Conte is fucking insane and will demand 35 yr old players saddle us with old contracts threaten to leave then leave after 2 yes.
Who else is there? Ragnick? I don't think he would accept the level of control we would offer.
Maybe we are waiting to see if PSG let Poch go?
>I think most united fans have accepted that it's time to move on from ole now.
Looking at some of the trolls I have been dealing with over the past couple of days, most might be an overstatement.
The Glazers love Ole, so there is no point even talking about sacking him. They need to bring in someone like Queiroz who is willing to play 2nd fiddle, but put in place a system to allow the team to thrive. So it is not about big name hunting for the hot seat.
The current set of coaches have been inherited from the Mourinho era. Their football education have yet to modernise to cope with the current PL, and does not fit the profile of players. It says it all when you look at how stunned Carrick and McKenna were when AWB was sent off.
We have hired new coaches since Mou. Ole would be great to be a head of recruitment or something because he's brought in some great players.
At least on the United sub most all of the top comments are ole out. There are probably more trolls here.
Glazers love ole because he's a company man but hopefully they drop him to take the blame off of them.
>hopefully they drop him to take the blame off of them.
We know the Glazers. They wont unless Ole loses the dressing room that is worth more than half a billion, or comes in 5th and missing out on UCL.
Since Ole and Phelan doesnt do the coaching, one can only imagine much of the problem with patterns of play comes from Carrick and McKenna.
There has never been any pattern or tactics or approach. It's counter with pace and inshallah.
I think ole might have already lost the dressing room. That is Ronaldo's room now and he had to be seething.
I mean you're not wrong, Ole is definitely the main problem. But the Bundesliga is definitely a fraudulent league, no other top league consistently makes duds look like world beaters. Joelinton, Andre Silva, Paco, Kramaric, Werner, Batshuayi, Haller, Jovic to name a few.
Very true. There’s an ungodly amount of space in that league. Keita just doesn’t look anywhere near as good as he was at Leipzig either
Bundesliga is a farmers league and Sancho will need time to adjust.
Your username it hits me hard, but overall and right at this moment.
Pogba to CM sancho on the right wing and greenwood on the left wing... Bruno AM and Ronaldo ST
Woah….where are the 2 DMs?? You can’t expect to play in a top league without a double pivot!
Neither Fred nor Mctominay are DM’s. They’re both box to box mids and playing them in the pivot is one of the only things Ole does that actually makes sense. The sad reality is that they make up our best pivot and that says more about current options and our recruitment than anything else.
Pogba isn’t a reliable pivot player at club level, never has been and never will be. He plays there for France because international games feature very little pressing and even then, Matuidi and more recently Rabiot/Tolisso were wedged into the lineup so it wasn’t really a pivot.
Matic has lost mobility so he’s only useful in possession and Van De Beek/Pogba are similar. None are good enough out of possession to justify playing them there when we’ve got such an offensive front 4(wingers+Ronaldo not doing their defensive duties and with most not having great ball retention). They’re fine for certain games and we can get away with it in others but it’s not really something that can be relied upon. Pogba and VDB are both final third players but they can’t be guaranteed gametime there because we have lots of attacking depth. Applies to VDB more so since he can only really play in Bruno’s position whereas Pogba is also effective out wide.
Ronaldo liked Fernando Santos double pivot kill the national teams attacking creativity and decided he want to experience Ole’s double pivot
Ole at the wheel.
2 year loan back to dortmund then ;-))
