Girls, do you like when men cat-call you?

Girls, do you like when men cat-call you?

camillari

NO. NO. NO. WHY WOULD WE LIKE IT

Maryhello

No, I don't see how it can be nice to hear some strangers yelling at me

TheSherlockOfReddit

Who would?

KingPiscesFish

No- never have, never will.

Strong-Reveal

HELL NO. Keep your weird ass comments to yourself you creeps

bored-now

Jesus H Christ, no. Why does anyone think this is a good thing?

Dont_be_stinky

No. It’s scary. I avoid working out outside for this reason. While men may see it as a compliment they’re giving, it makes me feel very unsafe especially if im outnumberEd.

MLGorilla2

Why do I feel like this is a round-about way of saying don’t cat-call. Which I totally understand and agree with but still.

epic_stonks

Ok quick question because I’m the iq of a potato. What is catcalling

vitaminseamonkey

it is when us ladies are walking around minding our business and men have to openly sexualize us and blurt out obscenities and such

Puzzleheaded_Gift_18

if I look at you a little bit enchanted and tell you that you are very beautiful in a gentle way is it catcalling?

vitaminseamonkey

not to me but all women interpret things differently and unfortunately if the guy is on the sleazier side then it’s a red flag

nzkfwti

With strangers, it's usually best not to compliment on things that aren't choices. If you tell someone "the diyed colour of your hair is beautiful" they probably won't mind.

KingPiscesFish

Means someone (stranger usually) is making a whistle, shouting/yelling, or commenting about a person walking by them. Usually, it’s a man cat calling a woman sexually- which can be considered as sexual harassment because the majority of women do *not* like cat calling.

nzkfwti

Absolutely not. There's a huge difference between catcalling and complimenting. Catcalling just reminds me that a huge part of the world values me by my sexual appeal above all else without any care for what I want. Hate it.

Mindarius

What do you consider cat-calling?

Frost-on-the-Willow

Not at all

usernamenotfound789

Girls dont like actually being cat called, but they do like the thought of it, as evidenced clearly by that episode of King of Queens where the wife got fat and the construction workers stopped cat calling her. This got her very upset, so the husband paid the construction workers to start cat calling again, which made her feel better and motivated again.

archSkeptic

Don't believe everything you see on TV

usernamenotfound789

Whaaaaaa??????? King of Queens wasnt real? I'm shocked this isnt what it is like in real life

nzkfwti

Women like x as evidenced by what I've seen on TV. - basically your original comment

usernamenotfound789

It truly is sad that sarcasm cant be detected when someone tries to compare reality to a freakin sitcom

LastOfMyKin

Then why post your original comment?

usernamenotfound789

The question reminded me of the episode. I liked the episode, it made me laugh. So I wrote the comment because I found it humorous. It’s shocking that people actually think that I believe something in a sitcom series applies to real life

nzkfwti

Well, we *are* on the Internet. Nobody here can hear your tone and see your face. Many people thought you were serious, so maybe next time add /s or something like that?

LastOfMyKin

Not everyone watches sitcom though. You should've put a blurb at the end.

Puzzleheaded_Gift_18

Yes, i love it.

iamacraftyhooker

Apparently I'm the odd one out, but sometimes. It really depends on the catcall, and the situation though. A whistle, or a "nice ass!" In broad daylight with other people around, can be a self esteem boost. If you're giving lewd descriptions of what you want to do to my body, it's dark, and/or there is no one else around, now I'm just worried about sexual assault.
